The Afghan Taliban has blamed Pakistan for the deadlock in the peace talks held in Istanbul under the mediation of Qatar and Turkey. However, they have insisted that the ceasefire agreement brokered by Qatar will remain in place despite the recent border clashes.Pakistan and Afghanistan have been holding peace talks in Istanbul on the border conflict. The talks were also ongoing on Friday.

But the talks ended without any resolution. Shortly after, the Taliban said that there had been a new clash on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Several Afghan civilians were killed and many were injured.Claiming that the two-day talks were held in good faith, Taliban government spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said in a statement on social media on Saturday morning that Kabul expected “Islamabad to present a realistic and implementable proposal to reach a solution.”Mujahid added, “During the talks, the Pakistani side tried to impose all responsibilities related to their security on the Afghan government. However, at the same time, they did not show any interest in taking responsibility for either Afghanistan or their own security.”Mujahid alleged that Pakistan had shown an “irresponsible and uncooperative attitude” in the talks.

As a result, the talks “did not yield any results.”Later in a press conference, the Taliban government spokesman insisted that the Taliban had not violated the ceasefire and that it would remain as before. The Pakistani government did not immediately respond to Mujahid’s statement. However, Pakistan confirmed the stalemate in the talks yesterday. Islamabad said the Qatar-brokered ceasefire agreement would remain in place even if there was no progress in peace talks.Pakistan's Information Minister Ataullah Tarar said in a statement yesterday that Pakistan would not support any action by the Taliban government in Afghanistan that would go against the interests of the Afghan people or neighboring countries.
