President Trump's approval rating on the economy hits new low in CNN poll.
A new CNN/SSRS poll released on April 1 found that President
Donald Trump has the lowest approval rating on the economy
of his two presidencies.
The poll found that 31% of Americans approve of Trump's
handling of the economy, down from 39% in January 2026.
According to CNN, the decline in approval ratings on the issue
was even greater among Republicans, especially among
Republicans under 45.
The poll of 1,201 U.S. adults, conducted from March 26 to 30,
found that 35% overall approve of Trump's job performance.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
How does that compare to Trump's overall approval rating?
What else did the poll show about voters' views on the economy?

According to AAA, this new CNN poll comes at a time when
gas prices in the United States have topped $4 per gallon on
average.
Before the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran, low gas
prices were a talking point for the Trump administration,
which was facing a negative public opinion about the economy
overall.
CNN reported that its poll found that nearly two-thirds of
Americans believe Trump's policies have worsened economic
conditions, and 27% said they support Trump's actions to
combat inflation.
CNN also reported that 63% of Americans said that gas prices
at the pump have caused their families financial hardship,
with 15% calling it "severe."
One survey participant told CNN and the polling company
about the country's most pressing issue:
"Prices! Everything is so expensive. It's hard to do anything
except go home from work.
Going to the grocery store is ridiculous! We've become poor
because of the price of gas and groceries!"
