Former US Vice President Dick Cheney has died. He was 84. US media reported this information on Tuesday, citing his family.

Dick Cheney was the 46th US Vice President. He served two terms under Republican President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009. According to a statement from his family quoted by US media, the former congressman 'died of pneumonia and cardiovascular complications.' Within a few decades of his tenure, he became known as an influential, controversial and powerful figure in Washington. The US military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan are believed to have been the brainchild of Cheney.
