He feels ‘obligated’ to sue the UK media outlet for allegedly editing a portion of US President Donald Trump’s speech in the BBC’s ‘Panorama’ documentary.Trump made the remarks in an interview with Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle program. It was presented in a way that caused viewers to be ‘deceived’.Trump’s lawyers had previously written to the BBC about the matter. This is Trump’s first statement on the matter since their letter. Trump told Fox News that he would file a $1 billion defamation lawsuit if the BBC did not ‘retract the vindictive speech and apologize and pay compensation’.A BBC spokesman said: “We are reviewing the letter (from Trump’s representatives) and will respond directly in due course.”Earlier, BBC chairman Samir Shah apologised for a “judgmental error” in the editing of the Panorama documentary. When asked on Fox News whether he would sue, Trump said: “Well, I think I will. Because they have deceived the public and they have admitted it.”On Sunday night, BBC Director General Tim Davey and Head of News Deborah Turness resigned, admitting responsibility for the editing of the Panorama documentary.
