Indian citizens being pushed to Bangladesh: Mamata Banerjee
Pointing to the Indian Border Security Force (BSF), West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that what is being done on the India-Bangladesh border is 'excessive'. She condemned the pushing of Indian citizens to the neighbouring country. At a meeting with local officials in Cooch Behar, West Bengal on Monday, the Chief Minister said, 'Indian citizens are being pushed to Bangladesh. I will tell the state police, don't be afraid. Be a little active. We have to emphasize on naka (search) operations.'Alleging harassment of residents, Mamata Banerjee said, 'Cooch Behar is a border district. Law and order must be maintained on the border. No excess will be tolerated. Just because someone speaks Bengali does not make him a Bangladeshi. Bangladesh is a country and West Bengal is a state.Mamata said that many people in Uttar Pradesh speak Urdu. Pakistanis also speak Urdu. There is a Punjab in Pakistan too.
There is a Punjab in India too. The residents of both sides speak Punjabi. The residents of Bengal are being harassed.In a meeting with local officials in Cooch Behar, Chief Minister Mamata said that no agency of any other state can arrest anyone in West Bengal without following proper procedures. The Chief Minister said that if someone's name is mentioned as an accused (in any case), then he should be investigated. Notices were sent to some people from Assam under the Foreigners Act.
