Sen. Susan Collins launches 2026 Maine re-election bid
Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine, confirmed in a video
announcement on Tuesday,
February 10, that she is running for a sixth term.
The 73-year-old posted a 16-second video on social media
of herself taking off a pair of New Balance sneakers.
“This is perfect for 2026, because I’m running,”
Collins said, holding up a pair of running shoes.
Boston-based New Balance recently opened a manufacturing
facility in central Maine.
Collins’ announcement was widely expected, though the
midterms are expected to be one of the most closely watched
races in the country.
She will likely face either Democratic political newcomer
Graham Plattner or Democratic Gov. Janet Mills.
